“Why can’t he study on his own?”
It is a very common difficulty for parents to get time and energy to sit with their children and guide them in their studies. However, parents make a good arrangement of tutors for their child either through home tutor, coaching center or online tuition. Along with these steps,  keeping some points in mind and applying them on a regular basis will help the child succeed in his exams.

Regular routine:

Routine is to be set from the very first day of the new session of school. Delaying in fixing a routine makes days pass very fast and the exams would be around the corner. With approaching exams, both the Parents and Child come under pressure and create an extremely packed routine with very few breaks in between which ends in yielding poor marks in the exam. On the contrary, fixing a feasible routine from the beginning and finishing the school and tuition work on time will fetch them ample time for self-study and this is the key element to score well in the exams. Speak to your child about its importance and make them accept the routine full-heartedly.

Ensure that kids stick to the routine:
Children tend to divert very easily and indulge in activities like television, mobile and social networking sites and just forget to study at the scheduled time. Here, they need your help. Remind them of their schedule and create enthusiasm in them to finish their task. Set an alarm to call them if you are at work.

Help them follow the routine effectively:
Just drafting a routine and making them sit to study, sometimes don’t work. Often, kids
waste their initial 15-20 minutes, thinking about where to start the studies from or in collecting notebooks, pens, and pencils. Parents can set targets and assign subjects to ease the process. Or, before they sit to study you can ask them questions like “What are you going to study first today?” Channelizing their thinking in that direction will fasten the start process. Gradually, it turns into a habit.

Cultivating reading habit:
Reading is one of the most common characteristics of successful people in the world.
This is something you can easily develop in them from a very young age. It has
multiple benefits that you will start realizing soon. Enhancement in analytical thinking skills, creativity, vocabulary, etc. Children are actually born learners.

Speak to them:
Even 10 minutes a day can make a difference in establishing good communication habits. Turn off your mobiles and turn towards them. Ask them in a supportive and friendly manner if they are struggling with any subject or topic. Listen to them carefully with no other stuff in the head. Sometimes only counseling by Parents used to be the solution to the child’s problem.  Encourage them to break down their difficulties into small steps. You may help them in initiating those small steps. If you feel it’s beyond your own capabilities or the problem would persist for the long term, then rather than dealing with one or two particular topics, you can think of hiring a tutor to help your child get a permanent solution and better results in all subjects. Online tuitions are coming up as a great help as it saves the child’s traveling time as compared to coaching institutes. Parents also get a chance to easily arrange subject wise online teachers where home-tuition generally lags in. Parents can give a new diary to their children for them to note down every single doubt they face while studying any topic so that they can clear them with their teachers on time.

Invest the child’s free time wisely:

Engaging kids in productive activities like a sport of their choice, yoga, swimming, playing chess will keep them physically and mentally healthy and increase their attention span and memory power. At the same time, children should not be overscheduled. They should also be given some time during the day when they have no defined task assigned and can relax in their own way.

Strengthen Parents-Child relationship:

Enjoy quality time together as a family. Going to a Cinema or Picnic is a fun break from studies. Happy and Content relationships develop a secure and healthy attachment with parents, and kids also learn to regulate their emotions under stress and in difficult situations. They enhance their problem-solving abilities when they have a positive relationship with their parents. Ensure they eat healthy food and maintain their sleep cycle. Incomplete sleep affects their retention capacity.

Reward them for good results:

Everyone likes to be praised. Parent’s proud face, glittering eyes, and a warm hug
are the biggest achievements for a child. Why not go a little more beyond and reward
them for their good result?
